“Too many church services start at eleven sharp and end at twelve dull.” – Vance Havner

The very idea that a time of worship would be dull makes no sense when you think about it. God is present when we worship. When we come with an awareness of His presence, worship becomes more than something we attend. It becomes an opportunity to encounter Him, hear His Word, and turn our hearts toward Him.

There should never be a “twelve dull” experience when we have come to worship a living God.

“Worry, like a rocking chair, will give you something to do, but it won’t get you anywhere.”

Some things we spend a lot of time doing…don’t actually move us forward. Worry is one of them.

Vance Havner had a way of saying simple things that made you stop and think. We can rock all day long, but eventually we have to get out of the chair and trust God with what we cannot control.

Maybe that’s your reminder for today.

“When we get to the end of ourselves, it is then that He takes over. When we recognize our weakness, it is then that God will show Himself adequate for whatever the situation may be.”

Death is only a comma to a Christian, not a period.

    — Adrian Rogers

Jesus Christ transformed death from an ending into a beginning. For those who belong to Him, the grave is not the end. Because He lives, we too shall live.
